Early Childhood Education

About Our Program

This program prepares candidates interested in working with young children ages 2 1/2 through six years in private schools and other educational environments. The Early Childhood Education (ECE) major is aligned with NAEYC standards and Hawaii state registry requirements for ECE. Prior to taking any early childhood courses, it is required that the student take the one credit, ED 101 Introduction to Chaminade Early Childhood Education course.

The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education allows transfer of 18 credits toward your degree if you have a Montessori credential from a free-standing MACTE-accredited institution or approved institution.

A.S. Curriculum

Required Coursework

Students working toward an associate’s degree must complete a minimum of 60 credit hours of coursework, which includes general education requirements, major requirements, and electives.
